    Could there be more categories? I feel like the current ones are a bit limiting, and I usually end up using General Discussion for doing things like showing off CreatiCode projects which is technically off topic (its desc.:Discuss interesting topics in computer technologies (not specific coding questions) )

    Maybe General Discussion could be changed to technically allow more things? I haven’t seen anyone actually use General Discussion yet ever to discuss an interesting computer technology topic, or something like polymorphism or how LLMs (large language models) work on the inside. To also make this better, new topic categories or subcategories of General Discussion could be created, like (I took some from the Scratch forums):

    • User projects/Show and tell: Used for showcasing projects (“hey guys come check out my new project”) and also explaining how they work (“how I made the wrestling and fighting stages in example project”), as well as giving updates on those projects (“I added multiplayer to example project!!!”).
    • Save codes: Used for sharing your save codes in CreatiCode games and projects that let you save your progress with a code, like Paper Minecraft
    • User events: it could use a better name, but it’s like when people organize fun events/challenges/contests using CreatiCode and CreatiCode related, like that time I made a challenge where you have to figure out a secret code and the reward was a free project.
    • Requests: this could be a subcategory of help, and it’s just you ask someone to make something for you or you offer to make something for someone else. It could even use the same “Shops” format that the Scratch wiki has ( https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/365937/ ) .

    Not only will making these changes improve the forums right now, but I also think it’s going to be important as more and more users come in, since we’ve had more new users come on the forum, and we don’t want them to use the wrong topics out of confusion or not seeing a topic for what they want. We should also make it so the notification that pops up when you first sign up also gives you a link to the forum rules.

      @jeffreyrb03-gmail

      Thanks. We don’t want to have too many categories, which may be confusing to new users. How about compressing them into 2 categories? Such as “Project Showcase” and “Community Discussion”? Or some better names?

          @jeffreyrb03-gmail

          “Project showcase” has been added. For the other discussions, let’s continue to use “General Discussion” for now since it is already reasonably broad.
