Blocks to get info from other websites/APIs
-
It would be nice to have reporter blocks that can get information from other APIs/websites like YouTube and information about CreatiCode.
Here are some blocks I’m thinking:- (number of users on CreatiCode)
- (description of CreatiCode user (“DragonKnightJeff”)) - returns “I like making stuff”
- (profile picture of CreatiCode user (“DragonKnightJeff”)) - returns the URL of my Batman Snoop Dogg PFP or puts it in a sprite costume
- (number of projects on CreatiCode)
- (number of users on Scratch)
- (description of Scratch user (“example”)) - returns whatever the description/bio of that account is
- (profile picture of CreatiCode user (“example”)) - returns the URL of whatever the profile picture of that account is
- (number of projects on Scratch)
- (number of subscribers YouTuber (“creaticode_com”) has) - returns 154 since you guys have 154 subscribers at the moment
- (profile picture of YouTuber (“creaticode_com”)) - returns the profile picture (as a URL) of the CreatiCode YT channel (the CreatiCode logo)
- maybe other stuff that’s possible with the YouTube API

@jeffreyrb03-gmail You know, I agree. if there was, then I could make my dream creation, which I call: Media world.

@amanda-12368f30 ooo tell me about it
-
@jeffreyrb03-gmail so you can do things like post, and virtually get famous. but the thing that would make it real awesome is that if you could see how many people have subscribed to your channel!
-
@amanda-12368f30 you can already do that for your game idea, but this is about seeing stuff from other sites. If it’s like a YouTube tycooon like game then you can just make a count of how many subscribers that person has by saving their data in a saved variable or database
-
@jeffreyrb03-gmail okay that goes to a whole different level
-
Technically we can add these blocks, but what kind of projects will people use them for?
-
@info-creaticode Maybe for things like self-advertisment, like “Subscribe to CreatiCode on YouTube, they only have 154 subscribers, let’s get them to 1000!” and maybe having a cool use for the graph blocks where we can see particular trends and increases in users on CreatiCode or other platforms over time. There are also fact APIs like one that gives a random fun fact (I forgot the code and link to it but it exists) which I know would be useful for sure, like a random fun fact on a loading screen.
-
These use cases seem relatively limited. We will add these as low priority on our list. Thanks

Yeah, but why not just use ChatGPT blocks for that reason?
