    Prerequisite

    • Working with Blocks
    • Working with Sprites

    Description

The “Say” and “Think” blocks are Stack Blocks in the Looks category.

    Difference between “Say” and “Think”

    The Say Block

The “Say” block is used to show what the Sprite is saying.
A Dialogue Box like this https://cdncreaticodecom.b-cdn.net/scratch-gui-projects/forum/81d3efdc-65e9-418a-8a1b-a90e53e1d06e.PNG" width="90" style=""> appears with the Sprite when you click on the Say block.

    The Think Block

The “Think” block is used to show what the Sprite is thinking.
A Thinking Cloud like this https://cdncreaticodecom.b-cdn.net/scratch-gui-projects/forum/e1952718-2571-4934-b9da-f8643100b128.PNG" width="90" style=""> appears with the Sprite when you click on the Think block.

How to Clear the Speech Bubble?

To clear the Speech bubble (Dialogue box/ Thinking cloud) from the stage, you have to use an empty “Say” or “Think” block.

    Here is how it works;

    https://cdncreaticodecom.b-cdn.net/scratch-gui-projects/forum/5ffd5b6b-d9e8-410b-a9e1-dc5a107124ae.gif" width="800" style="border-radius: 5px; border: 1px solid #29622d;">

Say or Think for Some Seconds

The “Say for Seconds” and “Think for Seconds” blocks show the sprite saying or thinking, for some seconds only.

    https://cdncreaticodecom.b-cdn.net/scratch-gui-projects/forum/1f60ef87-cab3-42ef-a171-ede439a28e97.gif" width="750" style="border-radius: 5px; border: 1px solid #29622d;">

The sprite cannot Say and Think at the same Time

The Sprites cannot say and think at the same time. So if you play the “Say” block after “Think” block, it will replace the Thinking cloud with a Dialogue box.
